I ordered the brown stew chicken with rice and peas, cabbage, and fried plantains. The chicken was really good and they poured the brown stew gravy over my rice and peas and made it even more bomb. I was disappointed when I got to the cabbage because it was basically raw. I didn't eat the plantains. Everyone inside was nice and friendly and checked on us frequently. The inside isn't really big there may be about 1 -3 tables for dine in.

    This location is trash.
Every time I come here it's always something.
Today was the last straw for me. The gravy on my oxtails is so bland.. no flavor whatsoever!

Last time, my rice and peas was HARD. Like they rushed and made them last minute. The cabbage is always inconsistent, one day it has a sweet flavor the next it'll taste like nothing but ginger. Also one time my oxtails were so tough.. it's getting ridiculous.

I never leave reviews but I'm extremely upset. I pay too much money to eat here for it be so inconsistent. I'm not even a person who leaves reviews but I couldn't help myself.. I used to love this place but naw... it's always something!

Also... I tried to come last Sunday and they had a "closed on sundays, effective immediately".. like no warning but I guess.

It's sincerely a hit or miss and as of lately way more of a miss. I'm done! Maybe I'll try westhiemer location

Ehh - wasn't what I was expecting it to be. The food was good but it didn't have that extra umfff (like somebody uncle cooking jerk chicken in a hut has) I've had GREAT Jamaican food- but this didn't really compare.

My portion size was relatively small compared to other Jamaican restaurants I've eaten and to the pictures i saw in the review.
I ordered jerk chicken, rice and peas, cabbage and it came with 2 large pieces of plantain. My meal was around 7 bucks.
I only received a chicken leg and the back piece of a thigh . I'm not sure if the employee preparing my order realize that the "thigh" was only bones, so it was a very small serving of chicken. I usually like spicy jerk , their jerk tasted more like a sweet jerk BBQ, but for someone who does not like spicy jerk it's prob right up your alley. The plantain were good but the cabbage was under seasoned.
    .
All in all- the food hit the spot . I didn't try their beef patties but then had a large assortment on their menu. The staff were very friendly and my service was fast (food to go)

so the first stop on my #HoustonAfroCaribbeanTour is Golden Krust. This is my first time having this restaurant so its really new to me. I went with an open mind and left with a full stomach. the restaurant have a very chain restaurant vibe feel to it so i got my food to go. kinda small to sit in and eat. the selection of caribbean food is definitely there. i wish i had enough stomachs to try everything. i grabbed the braised oxtail and curry chicken. they broke my heart by running out of oxtails so i'm guessing if you want some, you should go early.

    so check this out.

all the food is great. the oxtail juice is SCRUMPTIOUS. the oxtails are tender too. the cabbage is a great vegetable side. the curry chicken is great. i also ordered spicy beef patty that wasn't really spicy but it was still delicious.

overall, i enjoyed the restaurant and would recommend it to anyone.

Ooooooweeeee! So delicious! Finally stopped by here to try them out. I purchased a small plate (huge portions) with oxtail, rice (cant remember the exact name) cabbage, plantains, and a beef patty. It was all so flavorful. The beef patty was my favorite. The crust was so flaky and the temperature was jut right!
The staff was super friendly and offered me samples of any and everything I wanted to try before I purchased. I will definitely come back here for a meal.
